Hello and Welcome!
Lake Ouachita Baptist Church is a group of Christ-followers in and around Mt. Ida, Arkansas, who seek to LOBC - Love Others Because of Christ. Our goal is to encourage, minister to and lead everyone around us to a relationship with Jesus Christ who so greatly loves us.
If you live in the area and do not have a church home, we would love to invite you to come visit Lake Ouachita Baptist Church. We have people of all ages, from many different walks of life, who have lived in different parts of the country and the world, who are at different stages in their walk with God. There is no need to dress up or feel you need to give a donation, just bring your Bible if you have one (we'll be glad to give you one if you do not) and show up with a desire to worship and get to know and serve God more.
LOBC is cooperatively associated with and supports the missions of the Mt. Ida Ministerial Alliance, the Caddo River Baptist Association, the Arkansas Baptist State Convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention. There are LOBC members who serve as volunteer fire fighters, in the Montgomery County Nursing Home Auxiliary, Wayseekers Ministry, Mount Ida Meals for Seniors, are members of Gideons International, go on mission trips all over the globe and many other ways that occasionally go unnoticed here on earth but not in heaven.
Our mission statement is our Lord's Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20)
OUR HISTORY
Lake Ouachita Baptist Church began with faith in God and a vision for the future on September 7, 1975 in the home of Bill and Dorothy Ritter. October 12, 1975 the church called Bro. Ross Williams as its first pastor. That same day Caddo River Baptist Association accepted the church into its fellowship.
The first property (three acres and a house which is now the Youth house) was purchased in a ten year loan that was paid off in six months. When a wall was taken out of the house to allow more room for worship, a small New Testament from history (World War) was found. That God was in this step of faith is evident from the stories of some of the "old timers". For example, the house had been vacant for several years, yet when the power was turned on, every light bulb burned; when the well was turned on, there was not a single leak in a single pipe. God has poured His blessings on LOBC as He abundantly met every need. One such miracle was how He provided an answer to prayers for hymnals when member Tommy Simpson bought a used car to later find twenty-five hymnals in the trunk.
